Support BRANCH Study

The Virginia Tech Child Study Center and Virginia Tech Autism Clinic & Center for Autism Research, in partnership with the University of Virginia and Virginia Commonwealth University, seek to assess the feasibility, acceptability, and benefit of the Support BRANCH program used in combination with clinician-delivered behavioral therapy as part of a stepped-care model for reducing child behavior problems and increasing parents’ feelings of competency in supporting youth behavior.

RELAX Intervention Study

The CALMER Lab at the Child Study Center at Virginia Tech is inviting families of adolescents with ADHD ages 11-16 years to participate in an online intervention study examining the utility of adding a smartphone app to help practice skills to the RELAX intervention.

 

RELAX seeks to equip adolescents with coping, communication, and conflict management skills, and help parents learn how to support their adolescents in using these skills. Families can earn a total of $200 for completing all parts of the study.

Community Advisory Boards

Virginia Tech’s Child Study Center is recruiting middle school students in Southwest Virginia communities to serve on our Youth Advisory Board (IRB#24-098)!

 

The Board is being created to elevate youth voices and contribute to Child Study Center programming, including helping develop online mental health resources for teens. ​

​

Across 2 years, Advisory Board Members will receive training in communication skills and mental health knowledge. Members will receive $25 per hour for participation in training and meetings (about $200 per year).  â€‹

ADHD and Eating Study

The CALMER Lab at the Child Study Center at Virginia Tech is recruiting families of adolescents with ADHD ages 13-19 years to participate in an online study to better understand eating behaviors in teens with ADHD.

Teens and parents will complete one survey, with adolescents completing daily ratings for 2 weeks. Families will be compensated for their participation.

Food Insecurity Study

The SEED Lab affiliated with the Child Study Center at Virginia Tech is recruiting college students to participate in a study to understand food access, eating, and psychological health. 

​

This study is completely remote and participants will receive $60 upon completion.
